Membership

Admission criteria

Any candidate (and not his/her dependants) has to be graduate from a Belgian or foreign university or School of higher level. An exception to this rule can be made by the Balloting Committee in exceptional circumstances. Furthermore, grade A or B are required for international officials.

Procedure for admission

  • General procedure : Any person as well as the members of his/her family wishing to enter the Club will be sponsored by at least two members having at least five years of membership; one of them must be of Belgian nationality. One of the sponsors will submit a detailed letter of recommendation to the President of the Balloting Committee.

  • Alternative procedure : A foreign candidate having no acquaintances in the Club will be introduced by his/her Ambassador, the diplomat designed for that purpose or the Chairman of his/her Chamber of Commerce established in Belgium. For the European Union and NATO officials, a letter of recommendation signed by the General Director will be accepted.

The file will be transferred to the Secretary General who will verify it is complete.

The Balloting Committee meets at least four times a year at the Secretary General's request. It conducts the necessary enquiries, may ask for additional information or ask the candidate to meet with the Committee. Its decisions are final and need not be justified.
